Create your own DIY Acorn Banner using scrap fabric you have in that box in your closet.š
With fall in the air, or in my case decorating for fall to give the illusion of chilly days, LOL. I thought this was a cute idea to create for your home or even to make as a hostess gift for upcoming holiday visits.
Plus if you’re like me, you have a box of fabric tucked in the back of the closet. Time to pull it out!!!
Share your finished project, I’d love to see your colors!
Supplies:
- Fabric
- Ribbon OR twine
- Felt
- Acorn template ā¦Ā here
- Old book pages
- Spray adhesiveĀ
- ScissorsĀ
- Fray CheckĀ
- Mini clothespins
- Card stock
- Pen or pencil
Directions:
Start printing two acorn templates onto card stock. You can use regular paper, but card stock is easier to trace.
Cut the top off of one of the templates. Use the acorn top to trace out the fabric. (see image 1 below) Once youāve cut out all of the fabric tops, use the Fray Check to keep the edge’s from fraying. Set them aside to dry.
*Note: If you don’t have Fray Check that’s okay, just know the edges may unravel a bit.

While the fabric acorn tops are drying, cut out the other acorn template. Use it to trace and cut out full acorns on the felt. I could fit two acorns on each sheet of felt. (see image 2 above)
Use the full template to trace an acorn onto the book pages. I left off the stem of the acorn when I was cutting because I knew the fabric would cover that. (see image 3 above)
Use the spray adhesive to attach a book page to a felt acorn. Follow by using the spray adhesive to attach the fabric acorn top to the book page. You may have to trim the felt + book page acorn before attaching the fabric so it doesnāt peek out. (see image 4 above)
Now String the twine across the front of a table. Then, use the mini clothespins to hang the finished acorns.
Isnāt it cute?
You just created your own DIY Acorn Banner!
The perfect, understated Thanksgiving decor for your entryway.
